FOR21

In 2021, the Tashkent Medical Academy, within the framework of the Erasmus + program, became a participant in the project 619037-EPP-1-2020-1-EL-EPPKA2-CBHE-JP “Fostering the doctor of the 21st century: education for patient-centered communication” (“Formation of competencies doctor of the 21st century: training in patient-centered communication skills”, where the grant applicant is the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (Greece).

This is a project co-funded by the Education, Audiovisual and Cultural Executive Agency (EACEA) of the ERASMUS+ Higher Education Capacity Building (CBHE) program. The duration of the project is 3.5 years, in which 3 universities from European countries, 2 from Russia (until 04/09/22), 2 from Kazakhstan and 2 from Uzbekistan take part.

Purpose FOR21

The purpose of the FOR21 project is to stimulate the development of curricula for medical schools, as well as educational strategies, methods and tools aimed at developing communicative competence, social responsibility and patient-centered communication.

Project objectives

  • Create a program for the formation of communication skills for students enrolled in clinical courses in order to increase the level of competence in communicating with patients in the future, to optimize the process of patient-oriented communication during internships and professional activities.
  • Use interactive simulations in a fully integrated learning space to move from traditional lecture-based learning to educational technologies such as blended learning and distance learning.
  • Develop a system for assessing the level of formation of communicative competence, as well as the effectiveness of innovative pedagogical approaches used in the educational process

Patient-Centered Communicative Competence Development Program

  • 6 training centers for the development of communicative competence were created, the task of which is to develop and implement the Patient-Oriented Communicative Competence Program
  • A program for the development of patient-oriented communicative competence has been developed and integrated into the curriculum of 6 partner universities
  • The program is taught to students in two stages (basic and advanced) and includes 4 modules equal to a total of 10 ECTS.
  • Each stage includes two modules: a virtual patient (VP) module and a standardized patient (SP) module.
  • The first module covers Basic Communication Skills and is based on 6 Virtual Patient (VP) scenarios: 5 + 1 final.
  • The second module continues training in Basic Communication Skills and uses 6 Standardized Patients (SP) scenarios: 5 + 1 final.
  • From the 3rd module, training in Advanced Communication Skills begins and 6 EP scenarios are used: 5 + 1 final.
  • The 4th module completes the acquisition of Advanced Communication Skills and uses 6 SP scenarios: 5 + 1 final.
